Prepare for excuses from Jake Paul

Jake Paul, a self-proclaimed ‘professional’ boxer is set to take on Tyron Woodley on Aug. 29 for what will be his third “professional” bout. Unlike Jake’s second career fight vs Ben Askren, Woodley is on another level physically and athletically.

Paul is currently riding a three-fight win streak, though it seems like Woodley will be his toughest test yet. At this point I’m certain Paul’s short-lived success has gone to his head as now he decided it was a good idea to bet with Woodley that the loser of the fight has to tattoo the winner’s name somewhere on their body… forever...

Never in a million years would I willingly agree to have a tattoo of the person who beat me, especially claiming my love for them. It’s weird.

Woodley seems to be taking this fight seriously, and why wouldn’t he? I mean, Paul has SOME talent I’ll give it to him, but not world-class talent. Woodley is a former UFC welterweight champion and held it down for a couple of years until this guy named Kamaru Usman beat him resoundingly. To Woodley’s credit, Usman is an unworldly talent at the welterweight division, a true freak of nature. I mean for Christ's sake his nickname is the “Nigerian Nightmare,” if that doesn’t tell you how powerful this man is then you need to have a come to Jesus meeting with yourself. He’s scary good.

I don’t mean to criticize Paul, but I would like to point out a glaring fact that I don’t hear enough people talking about in the media. He is yet to fight a true boxer like a Manny Pacquiao or a Gennady Golovkin or a Canelo Alvarez. He will have faced a grand total of 2 MMA fighters, who happened to be in their late 30s, a retired basketball player and a YouTuber, so it’s not the best type of competition for someone claiming to be a “professional boxer.”

While I don’t necessarily like him, Jake Paul is kind of re-energizing the sport of boxing. Paul is bringing that flair the sport has desperately needed considering the majority of fight fans are tuning in to watch MMA instead of boxing. While he doesn’t have the best eye for boxing, like saying his brother beat Floyd Mayweather, he can somewhat hold his own in the ring.

Paul knows how to stir people up, so you bet your ass this fight is going to be a spectacle. My honest prediction? I think Woodley will win because he’s simply a better fighter. You heard it here first: Woodley will knock Paul out in the second round.
