Micah Parsons makes up for years of pain

In 2017 the Dallas Cowboys drafted Taco Charlton with the 28th pick in the first round, two picks later the Steelers drafted T.J. Watt. I still haven’t completely forgiven this miss, but Micah Parsons is making it a hell of a lot easier to forget about.

I was so disappointed when the Denver Broncos selected Patrick Surtain II with the 9th pick. I, like most of Cowboys’ Nation, were convinced Surtain was as good as ours. The Cowboys traded back from No. 10 to No. 12 with the Eagles in order to keep Devonta Smith out of New York, little did we know one of the best defensive players in football had just landed in our lap.

Parsons has been more than any Cowboys’ fan could ask for. He and the rest of the defense have blown every expectation out of the water. He was emerging as one of the best linebackers in the NFL, then injuries forced a move to the edge where he was even better. Parsons ranks no. 6 in the league with 13 sacks and second with 18 tackles for loss and is truly the reason the Cowboys defense has been as good as it has been.

As a rookie Parsons is a wrecking ball no matter where he lines up on the defense. The biggest key for the Cowboys will be keeping him on the field and giving him as many opportunities to rush the quarterback as possible without compromising the middle of the defense that gets weaker when he isn’t dropped back.

I’ve had bad experiences with Dallas defenses in my lifetime, but this season we have two of the best defensive players in football. I am very high on Trevon Diggs, I don’t care what statistic or grade you throw in my face, you only hate him because he’s a Cowboy. The thought of these two continuing to improve upon the stellar seasons they’ve already had is the most excitement I’ve felt since 2016 when we drafted Dak and Zeke.

The defense is the most exciting part of the Cowboys for the first time in years. Parsons is already a massive problem for defenses because of his versatility. If the rest of the defense continues to play as it has, beating the Cowboys in January is going to be a tough ask.

Enjoy watching Parsons win multiple DPOYS with the star throughout his career.
