When it comes to fantasy football, every year, a handful of players stand out as the MVP for the season on your teams. Maybe the wide receiver you drafted in the 6th round had a breakout season and helped win you the Fantasy Football Championship. Or maybe the running back you reluctantly picked up on the waiver wire because your stud back went down to a season ending injury added just enough to help the team make the playoffs. Just maybe, you made a blockbuster trade with a league mate, and just when you started second guessing yourself for doing so, the player you traded for skyrocketed to Fantasy Football euphoria.

Things like that happen every year. It’s part of the beauty of Fantasy Football. You never know who is going to step up, and when it happens to a guy on your roster that you drafted, with no intentions of him doing so, it is one of the best feelings to experience.

So let's take a look at some names who I feel like have proven their worth as the mid season point MVP in Fantasy Football.

Take me back to mid August and I would’ve laughed in your face if you told me that Eagles starting Quarterback Jalen Hurts was going to be a fantastic Fantasy Football asset on your team. Crazy right? But hell, here we are, November 2021, and Jalen Hurts is the QB4 in Fantasy Football, and the 5th overall scorer, period. The Eagles suck, but it doesn’t matter, and that’s probably why Hurts is so good, because he is constantly forced to have to make a play.

Jalen Hurts has only scored less than 16 points one time this season, and that was against the Detroit Lions where he only threw the ball 14 times. Other than that, he is almost a sure fire guarantee to score 20+ on a weekly basis. As the season sits right now, Hurts has scored a total of 217 fantasy points, only trailing Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Josh Allen. It's absurd. When Hurts attempts 25 passes or more, he scores a minimum 20.5 points per game. Add in the fact that he runs the ball at least 7 times per game with a 5.6 ypc, and he has the making for an MVP season in fantasy football. The Eagles don’t know how to use their running backs, which adds in another great positive for Hurts, because he is running the ball almost as much as they are. Add in a young, talented receiver in DeVonta Smith, and it's all fireworks on your fantasy team with Jalen.

The rest of the Fantasy season for Hurts looks juicy too, which rolls right into the Fantasy Playoffs. Besides New Orleans, there isn’t a tough defense against quarterbacks in fantasy football down the calendar for Hurts. If he can keep this up, he very well could end up a top 5 fantasy quarterback for the year, maybe even top 3.

You’d be crazy to think I’d put anyone else in this portion that wasn’t named Jonathan Taylor. If Derrick Henry wasn’t done, most likely for the entire season, then he would be the rushing leader right now. But, that’s not the case, and after last Sunday Taylor has the same amount of rushing yards as Henry (937). Honestly, it is extremely hard to find a flaw in this kid. He’s fast, strong, shifty, and motivated beyond belief to be the best in the league. He is without any question the MVP for fantasy running backs thus far.

As the RB1 in fantasy football, JT has an unrelenting ypc right now at 5.8, yes 5.8. Give him the ball two times and you have a first down and then some. It’s ridiculous, and extremely fun to watch, unless he is on the opposing fantasy football team you’re facing. He will win you weeks, and very well could carry your team to the promised land of a Championship. Let's look at his point totals quickly, just the last  6 games alone – 24.6, 34, 21.2, 18, 28.8, and 31.9. Get the picture? He has scored at least 1 touchdown the last 7 games and has 10 total on the season, something you just can’t teach, he has a nose for the end zone, and is going to find it regardless.

Here’s hoping the Colts can keep their stud mustang rolling, and after these next two games, the schedule is B-E-A-utiful for a fantasy running back.

Cooper friggin’ Kupp man. Even his down weeks are incredible. He’s had one REALLY disappointing game this season, and that was week 4 against the Cardinals when he scored 11.4 points. Other than that, he has been completely dominant, and that could be an understatement. Here are the last 5 games – 23.3, 20.5, 24.5, 37.4, and 36. PHENOMENAL. He’s borderline matchup proof.

With Woods going down, I think the looks and targets will still come just fine to Kupp, and I think he could see an uptick. Yeah, they brought in OBJ, but I don’t care. He’s a has been. Kupp is the real deal, and the only thing Beckham will be good for in my opinion is being a decoy and distraction on the field for opposing corners. Stafford loves Kupp, the Rams love Kupp, and fantasy football owners love him.

Kupp hasn’t caught less than 5 balls in a game this entire season, and that was the only occurrence when it was 5 catches in a game. It has literally been either 7 or more every game, with double digit targets EVERY GAME but 1. He has 85 catches for 1,141 yards and 10 touchdowns so far, and I don’t see that slowing down any time soon. Ride the Kupp train as long as it goes, and I think it’ll be the rest of the season.

We will have to revisit this conversation at the end of the Fantasy season, but if I’m a betting man, a lot of these guys, if not all of them, will still be in the running for MVP. But, you never know in Fantasy Football, someone might have a huge surge in production this second half of the year, it’s been done before. Or, the darker side of things, one of these guys goes down for the year, and whoever sits behind them bursts forward. Either way, it’s going to be a very fun second half of the season.
