Waiver Wire Targets Going Into Week 4

We are heading into week 4, and we need to keep making additions and subtractions to your team in order for it to be competitive. Week 3 saw some names pop up that were unexpected and I’m here to tell you which ones you should go after. So let’s get right to it and look at players I think are worth an add to your team.

Quarterbacks

Cooper Rush (DAL) 7% Rostered – Cooper Rush isn’t a guy who is going to get you a ton of points most likely at the quarterback position. But the truth of the matter is the waivers are thin for quarterbacks, and if you need a 2nd one, or if you lost the likes of Dak Prescott or Mac Jones, then he might be your best option. Right now he’s the QB30, but that also puts him ahead of Justin Fields who has started all 3 weeks so far. Rush scored 13.6 pts in week 2, and 12.4 pts last night against the Giants. But sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures, and we may not see Dak back until week 5 or later.

Running Backs

Jamaal Williams (DET) 61% Rostered – If you drafted D’Andre Swift you knew it was going to happen sooner or later, and it came sooner. Swift continued to aggravate that ankle from week 2 into week 3 against the Vikings last Sunday, and in stepped Williams to dominate. Williams came in and saw 45% of the snaps which turned into a 23.7 fantasy game. Those numbers elevated him to the RB7 on the season. That snap percentage is going to go up, and with that will come more points. He scored 2 touchdowns last week even with Swift still in, and now that he may miss through the bye week (week 6), Williams is looking at being a very start-able running back.

Khalil Herbert (CHI) 50% Rostered – Another add due to injury, as David Montgomery went down on Sunday and in stepped Herbert. Same result as Williams, domination. Herbert scored 29.9 points in week 3 and saw 60% of snaps. He did this last season too if you don’t remember, and although we don’t know the full extend to Montgomery’s injury and how much time he misses if any, I don’t think it matters. When you come into a game and put up 157 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries you leave a mark in your coaches brain. Fantasy Managers too, who can see now that he is the RB8 on the year. Herbert will be utilized I believe even if Monty is a go, and if he isn’t, then it’s just that much sweeter.

Alexander Mattison (MIN) 65% Rostered – I should’ve just put this as the “Add the NFC North Backup RB’s” section because I have 3 of the 4 here. Cook did what he does best and that is play a solid game, score a touchdown, and then fumble while dislocating his shoulder. If there was a record for how many times someone dislocates their shoulder the winner is Cooks. He has had this problem since High School, and it will continue to be an issue. Alexander Mattison comes in, scores a touchdown, and finishes the game. He didn’t see a ton of volume, but with Cook’s injury uncertain (they say he will play), he is a must add in case Cook misses the game, or time down the road.

Wide Receivers

Zay Jones (JAX) 15% Rostered – Zay Jones has quietly been lurking in the jungle bush waiting to explode in Jacksonville. He has been playing for at least 68% of snaps per game and in week 3 played 76% of them. Not only that but he put up an 11 target/10 reception/85 yards/1 touchdown performance. He was kind of hush hush the first two weeks totaling 13.3 points, but Sunday he went off for 19.5. That projected him up the list and is now the WR31 on the season. Jacksonville looks like they’re doing much better on offense this season, and if Trevor Lawrence continues to be good and get better, Zay Jones just might be a stud throughout the season with Christian Kirk. He needs to be rostered.

Romeo Doubs (GB) 41% Rostered – No one thought Doubs would be the better rookie receiver for Green Bay entering this season, but here we are week 4 and he is standing out. Trust has always been a thing with Rodgers, and it looks like Doubs has earned it for the most part. Last week he tallied 17.3 points, played on 55% of snaps, and ran the most routes for Packers wide-outs at 34. With Lazard being somewhat quiet, Rodgers is going to look elsewhere to score, especially if their two headed monster in the backfield can’t get it done. Doubs has the serious chance to finish the season as Green Bay’s WR1, and you don’t want to miss out on that.

Treylon Burks (TEN) 74% Rostered – Look I know it’s been gross, and at the WR71 right now you probably think I’m insane. But hear me out. He only has 16.3 points total on the season, and that’s fine. What is going to happen is someone who is part of that 74% rostered group is going to drop him, and that’s when you’re going to pick him up. His time in Tennessee is coming, be certain of it. His snap percentage has been climbing steadily all season. Week 1 – 37%, Week 2 – 45%, Week 3 – 69%. The talent is there, and getting noticed, he ran the most routes for Titan’s receivers last week. I’m not saying he is going to pay off instantly for your team, hell it may take a week or 3. But he is most certainly worth a stash because you’re betting on his talent and ascension to being a fantasy stud.

Tight Ends

Daniel Bellinger (NYG) 5% Rostered – You know I hate tight ends, so here is your potential streamer for the week. Last night Bellinger played in 60% of the snaps for the New York Giants. With those snaps he drew 5 targets and caught 4 of them for 40 yards. It’s not gorgeous, but Bellinger did find the end zone in week 2. With Sterling Shepard tearing his ACL there is a chance he could see more targets and be worth a stream this week and other weeks this season. He is someone to keep an eye on for a potential fill in.
