Thursday Night Football Was Actually Good

Put some respeck on the NFC Beast’s name! That was one helluva footbaw game Thursday night between the Taylor Heinecke led Football Team and Daniel Jones’s Giants, with a final score of 30-29 in favor of WFT.

It’s pretty uncharacteristic for a Thursday night game to be that close. Last year 10 out of 16 games played on Thursdays were decided by seven or more points.

Thursday night games have been notoriously bad in the past, usually having gross matchups with one bad team beating another. While this may have been another gross matchup, the teams did not disappoint whatsoever.

Backup QB Taylor Heinecke looked like someone who deserves a starting job, and Daniel Jones showed more running prowess than Lamar Jackson.

I’m seriously impressed with Heinecke. While he did play like a backup QB at times, he put his nuts on the table play after play and got the dub in a game that was a must-win for both teams. If he keeps this up, which will be tough given Washington’s schedule, HeineKING could easily take the starting job from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Even though the Washington offense looked great, I am concerned about their defense. They gave up over 400 yards and didn’t force any turnovers against the turnover machine that is Daniel Jones. On top of that, they were in the bottom half of defensive performance last week as well.

As for the Giants? They’re in serious trouble. Their offseason spending spree didn’t exactly improve its abysmal o-line, Kenny Golladay hates Daniel Jones, and worst of all Saquon can’t get it going.

If they continue to look like this Giants ownership will clean house at the end of the season. General Manager Dave Gettleman, Head Coach Joe Judge, and Jones will all be gone.

Despite the impending doom of both teams they somehow managed to do the impossible and put on a damn good show for Thursday Night Football. Let’s hope that the Panthers and Texans can do the same next week, but I seriously doubt it.
