October is hockey month and the NHL. HAS. BEGUN! I am so excited to start talking hockey again. As I'm writing this, I am watching hockey, so there really is no better time.

To start off, if you enjoy my blogs and want to watch/hear more about my hockey hot takes, opinions, etc. check out the newest GTD podcast Hockey Down Here!

Anyways.. A new season doesn't come without surprising beginnings. We saw the debut of the Seattle Kraken, which was exciting but not.. impressive I guess you could say. I mean they only lost by 1 to Vegas which is a pretty solid start, and then they got their first win against Nashville. I think Seattle lacks a little bit of depth and obviously team chemistry. At some point, if they keep losing, we can't attribute it all to team chemistry. These guys are professionals at the end of the day and can pick it up.

Speaking of Vegas, they have had an interesting start. They lost to the LA Kings which I know it is the beginning of the season but that is kind of embarrassing. Another embarrassing note from week one is that the Detroit Red Wings took Tampa Bay to overtime. That is hype for Detroit, but come on Tampa.

In other hockey news, Evander Kane has been suspended for 21 games for not following COVID protocols. It is unclear what he did but whatever it is, he is getting punished pretty heavily for it. The NHL also announced that the investigation on his gambling and his domestic abuse were not substantiated.

This season, NHL on ESPN debuted their partnership. I know fans had some trouble accessing games. I think everyone is still adjusting BUT I was out to eat the other day and I saw hockey coverage on all the TVs on ESPN and I loved it so so much.

I am disappointed with Fleury and my Chicago Blackhawks :/ I am obviously keeping the hope. It is the beginning of the season!
