It’s official! The 2022 NHL Draft will be in Montreal! The city was scheduled to host the draft in 2020 before it got moved online, and this will be the 27th time the city hosts the draft.

"We are proud to announce that, once again, we are conducting our Draft in front of the great fans of the Montreal Canadiens," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "Montreal, the site of the first NHL Draft in 1963, is a wonderful place to bring the NHL family together and to focus on the future of our game as our Clubs call the names of top prospects from around the world. We also thank Geoff Molson and the entire Canadiens organization for their cooperation and support while we needed to conduct the Draft remotely the past two years."

President and CEO of Tourisme Montreal said that NHL hockey has been a huge pull for tourists, so this will help the city in terms of tourism and economy.

Not including the 2019 draft, this will be the first time since 2009 that the draft will be held in Canada. As much as I love the United States, hockey is just so much more appreciated in Canada, so it will be exciting for the draft to go back there.

From what I know, NHL teams will have much more to go off of this season to prepare for the draft. Minor leagues should be playing more, so that is exciting for scouting departments!
