This past weekend a number of PGA tour pros wore red and black to replicate Tiger Woods’ iconic look to pay tribute to him after he survived a nearly fatal car crash last week.

The most notable were Tony Finau, Rory McIlroy, and even Phil Mickelson. No golf fan alive could have ever imagined Phil Mickelson donning the red and black to honor his former rival. To make a comparison for those who don’t keep up with golf, this is like if KD were to suit up in a game wearing the newest LeBron sneakers.

Tiger’s all time look started back in college at Stanford, whose school colors happened to be, well, red. The golf team there had players wear red on the final days, and Tiger would win a lot so he stuck with the look out of superstition.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say good call on sticking to the look because he’s got 82 wins while sporting the red and black.

Tiger himself took notice of the wardrobe choices, and wrote on twitter about how much it meant to him:

I can’t imagine what he’s going through right now, but I’m sure this put a smile on his face. Hell, it put a smile on mine.
