In case you missed it amidst the chaos that was week 1 of college football, LSU’s Head Coach Ed Orgeron made some regretful comments leading up to Saturday’s matchup against unranked UCLA.

While waltzing into the stadium, Coach O was confronted by a UCLA heckler who claimed “Hey Coach Orgeron, we’re gonna beat you down!” In classic Coach O fashion, he responded with “Bring your ass on. Bring your ass on in your sissy blue shirt.”

Of course the fan wasn’t able to clap back after Coach O entered Rose Bowl stadium’s tunnel, but the Bruins sure clapped back on the field. UCLA went on to win the game 38-27 despite being three-point underdogs.

The best part of this entire ordeal isn’t just the fact that LSU lost thanks to karma after Orgeron’s overt confidence, it’s the golden marketing opportunity UCLA’s social media team took full advantage of.

Following the game on Saturday, UCLA Football took to twitter where they would showcase a brand new header image on their profile page. Words won’t do this beauty justice, so take a look:

I love everything about this, although it is interesting seeing new forms of trash talking emerge in the social media era of sports. Who would have thought that in 2021, collegiate football programs would be subtweeting one another after a game? Society is weird.

I wouldn’t necessarily consider this as funny as the loss itself was, but Coach O is likely in the hot seat after a 5-5 COVID season last year and now opening up with a double-digit loss to an unranked opponent.

He’s a college football icon, but now fans are beginning to think his early success with the Tigers is all thanks to Joe Burrow and his surrounding talent like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. I’m not quite sure which side I agree with, but one thing I know for sure is that LSU needs to start winning NOW if Coach O wants to keep his job.
